OmAstroVedic’s vivah (marriage) muhurat engine is fully algorithmic — no hand-maintained date list. For 2026 it independently reproduces 58 of the 59 marriage dates Drik Panchang publishes for New Delhi, and every no-marriage gap lands exactly. The one miss — 11 December — is a nakshatra boundary two minutes before midnight.

How the dates are computed

Each date is derived at run time from Swiss Ephemeris positions at the Lahiri sidereal ayanamsha for New Delhi (28.61° N, 77.21° E). A day qualifies when an auspicious vivah nakshatra holds, the tithi is valid, and neither Venus nor Jupiter is combust (asta) — the classical requirement that the two marriage-significator planets be visible. The exclusion windows are applied directly: Holashtak, Chaturmas (Devshayani to Devuthani Ekadashi), the adhika (leap) month and eclipses.

There is no override table — the same rules run for every year, so any date below can be re-derived from first principles. Verified against drikpanchang.com’s published “2026 Hindu Marriage Dates” for New Delhi.

The cause is a nakshatra boundary: the Moon crosses from Mula into Purva Ashadha about two minutes before midnight, so whether the pre-dawn marriage window still counts as a valid nakshatra falls within ephemeris tolerance. We keep the rule-faithful result rather than nudge a threshold to force a match. Every other Drik date, and every no-marriage gap, lands exactly.
