Hindu festival calendar

This calendar lists major Hindu and Vedic festivals with their exact civil dates, weekday, tithi and lunar month. Dates are computed algorithmically from the Swiss Ephemeris using classical observance rules — pradosha for Diwali, nishita for Maha Shivratri, sunrise tithi for most vratas — not copied from a static table.

Each festival has its own page with significance, FAQs and year-by-year dates. The engine is benchmarked against Drik Panchang (see our open accuracy report).

Festival calendar — frequently asked questions

How are festival dates calculated?
From the Moon’s sidereal position at the relevant reference moment (usually sunrise tithi) for the festival’s classical rule, using Lahiri ayanamsa and New Delhi as the default reference unless noted.
Why can two sources disagree by a day?
Different panchangs use different reference cities, ayanamsas or observance conventions (especially for festivals tied to moonrise or local sunset). We document our rule per festival on each page.
Does the calendar include Ekadashi and Purnima?
Yes — major vratas, ekadashis, sankranti, Purnima and Amavasya are included alongside festivals like Diwali, Holi, Navratri and Janmashtami.
Can I see the panchang for a festival day?
Each festival page links to the panchang for that date so you can read the exact tithi, nakshatra and muhurta windows on the day itself.
