Rahu Kaal (also Rahu Kalam or Rahukalam) is a window of about 90 minutes each day that Vedic tradition treats as inauspicious for beginning anything new. It belongs to Rahu, the shadow planet of confusion and obstacles, so a journey, deal or ceremony started in it is believed to meet delays.

The rule is simple but local: the time from sunrise to sunset is split into eight equal parts, and Rahu owns a fixed part on each weekday.
