Choosing an auspicious date

Muhurta is arithmetic on real sky positions, not a lookup table — which is why the answer changes with your city.

What you get

  • Date lists for vivah, griha pravesh, vehicle purchase, mundan and naamkaran across the coming years.
  • Daily panchang — tithi, nakshatra, yoga, karana, Rahu kaal and choghadiya — computed from your city’s own sunrise.
  • Festival dates validated against drik-ganita almanac references, with the method published openly.
  • Everything on this surface is free and needs no account.

How it works

A muhurat is filtered on several conditions at once: the tithi and nakshatra running at that moment, the weekday lord, planetary positions such as Venus combustion for marriage, and the inauspicious windows of the day. Because those depend on local sunrise and sunset, a date that is clean in Delhi can fail in Chennai — so the city matters, and we compute rather than copy.

Common questions

Why do muhurat dates differ between sources?

Mostly because of which conditions each source treats as hard filters and which ayanamsha it uses. We use Lahiri sidereal, apply Venus combustion at 7 degrees for marriage, and do not treat tithi as an absolute exclusion — and we say so rather than presenting one answer as the only one.

Do I need to enter my birth details?

Not for panchang, choghadiya or festival dates — those depend only on date and place. Birth details matter when a muhurat is being matched to a specific person’s chart.
